Hi there,
I haven't been djing in a while but I've supported scratch live since day one, promoted it, bought it when it first came out, and I was amazed. So here's my problem. I upgraded to maverick and serato kept freezing when i opened it, without the hardware connected - never used to be a problem - I'm assuming serato dj fixes this issue. I can't remember exactly when I updated to scratch live 2.5 but I did. Now I just got an email from serato telling me to upgrade. I went on the site to see that scratch live is becoming serato dj. I remember hearing about this before but didn't look into it enough. My problem is that the CEO of the company is saying that it is 'Very old technology' and the SL1 doesn't support the industry standards. Does this mean I'm going to have to go out and spend another $7-800 on a serato box!?!? If I do, that will be a huge disappointment. I don't understand how its not compatible when it does all the main things serato dj can do right now other than have 4 decks and a sync button. Perhaps its because I'm getting older and not in the scene as much that I don't understand; but it just doesn't make sense that I wouldn't be able to use the SL1 box. It worked fine before, and in every other version of scratch live since they've added all the features. Now all of a sudden, its not compatible. Seriously? I just don't see how much more complicated djing needs to become, that the SL1 box would become obsolete, and scratch live becomes non existent. I guess its another end of an era in the djing world. My current setup is 2 tech 12's a pioneer dim 800 and serato 2.5.0 running on a mac. What am I going to need to do in order to get serato dj running or am I better off just finding an old version of scratch live and using an older computer to run it off? Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks, Dj Kerr-S Comments are closed.
